Book Review: SLAM

Slam is a book written by Nick Hornby. The book is about a teenage boy, Sam Jones and about how he is torn between to tough choices. The character in Slam, Sam Jones, dreams to be a professional skateboarder. Sam’s dream of skateboarding is shattered when his girlfriend, Alicia, gets pregnant. He does not know what to do or how to handle his life as he is torn between Alicia and his hobby, skateboarding. Sam has to cope with having a baby and stress from Alicia’s parents who are university professors. They want Sam and Sam’s baby out of their lifes. Sam puts up with all the pressure ad manages to pull through it and haves Alicia’s baby in the end. How Sam manages to pull through, read to find out.

Book Review: THE GRAVEYARD BOOK

A baby escapes a murderer who is intent on killing his whole family and the baby finds safety and security in a local graveyard. The ghosts who are looking after him gives him a name, “Nobody” or, “Bod” and takes good care of him.
Brought up by ghosts living in the cemetery, Bod learns about life from the dead. Bod is also taught some ghostly tricks like fading from mortal sight and haunting. Bod is haunted by a man called Jack, the man who had murdered his whole family and vows to kill Bod before he reaches man-hood.
Silas is Bod’s guardian until Bod is mature enough to defend himself from the man hunting him. Teacher and counselor to Bod, Silas is not alive but he is not dead. Unlike other ghosts, he can move among the living to possess food, medicine and anything Bod needs. Silas instructs Bod on the ways of the world while simultaneously protecting him from harm and rescuing him from deadly perils.However, he can leave to procure books and food for Nobody, instructing him on the ways of the world while simultaneously protecting him from harm and rescuing him from deadly perils.Will Bod survive the mysterious Jack?
